Maky's Corner

Today i bring you a game review of Fallout: New Vegas. This game is really easy to jump right into and play especially if you played Fallout 3 and are familiar with the controls and the way the game works. In this you are a delivery courier who is delivering a package until you are ambushed, shot in the head and left for dead all for the package of a platinum chip that you are carrying. You however did not die, you were saved by a mysterious robot and brought back to health by a doctor in the town of Goodsprings. From there you have one mission in mind which is to find the men responsible for trying to kill you, eventually your mission brings you to New Vegas where you will be faced with many decisions on how you want the game to play out. From what i can gather there is at least 4 different endings for the game. I've played through and i can tell you that this is a much bigger game than Fallout 3 i spent 30 hours on my game and still had a lot of side quests available for me to complete. There are several different companions you can have with you however you can only have 2 follow you at a time. One big downside to the game that i have is ever since i downloaded the patch for the game it tends to freeze a lot more which is very annoying and i wish they would fix it already.  It's a great game though that you can spend hours upon hours playing and is worth the 60 bucks you'll drop on it. I give it a 10 out of 10.
Hey everyone sorry for being away, i'm gonna start back up with my reviews and today i bring you "It's Kind of a Funny Story".
This film stars Keir Gilchrist who plays Craig a teenager who is very school focused and achievement oriented. The  pressure in in his life get's too much for him to handle however between striving for school, his parents pushing him and girl trouble; Craig begins to consider suicide.
Craig goes to the ER to commit himself afraid he may hurt himself. At this point in the movie i felt bad for Craig but at the same time it's one of those things where a lot of teenagers feel depressed from school and social pressures and the film sort of touches on that. We learn that 2 of Craig's friends admit to being depressed and a girl that is in the ward is there from cutting herself.
While in the ward Craig is to stay in the adult ward since they are remodeling the child ward. This is where Craig meets Bobby (Zach Galifianakis). Now i can sit here and talk about how well Zach played this character he was smart, funny and you really became connected with him and his problems. It takes a while for you to find out why Bobby is there or what his story is but once you do, it's very moving.
Bobby become's Craig's guide in the ward he helps him out and Craig also helps out Bobby. It's hard to discuss some of the things they talk about without giving too much away, but i can say that the title of the movie is accurate when it says it's kind of a funny story the whole movie is not laugh out loud funny. It gets serious and really opens your eyes to depression and how some people handle their problems and when it may be too late.
I'm sorry this isnt my best review as i really enjoyed this film and just want to talk about it. I'm having trouble discussing it without spoiling it, but i can say go check it out it's great. Very moving, smart and funny i dont think you will be disappointed. I give it a 9 out of 10
Going into this film i really didnt have high expectation. The trailers made it look like a decent enough action comedy, and i'm not gonna pass up seeing Bruce Willis kick ass. Now i have never read the comic that the movie is suppose to be based off so i'm not going to be doing any comparisons in that aspect i'm just going to discuss some things i find worth mentioning.
The whole premise of the movie is kind of a weak one to me, basically the main characters are being targeted to cover up a conspiracy which is something you dont even learn till almost after the halfway point. So really the movie just starts with people being chased and killed but your left in the dark to why any of it is happening. A lot of the movie as well is Bruce Willis going around to his old CIA friends to try to figure out why someone tried to have him killed along with some girl from the pension department who he basically stalks.
Now i'm not trying to say this was a terrible movie. I actually really enjoyed it, once everything was set into motion and things started to become a little clearer it actually turned into a really smart movie. As far as the comedy goes it was really funny John Malkovich really steals the movie. I would suggest going to see this one as i dont think you will be disappointed. Overall 7.5 out of 10
Today we have the review for the newest installment of the Jackass series. Going into this movie i was actually thinking what could they have possibly come up with to make a 3rd movie, and to my surprise the Jackass crew still have some tricks up their sleeve. This movie shows you that simple is funny while they still have some pretty big stunts it's some of the smaller one's they do that really steal the show such as a midget bar room brawl.
If your a fan of Jackass then this is something that you will want to check out. I would actually suggest this film to anyone who is a fan of watching people do stupid shit. This turned out to be my favorite of the 3 movies, the stunts in this one really stole the show nothing to fancy just simple dirty fun. Overall i give it an 8 out of 10

Right now i'm going to talk about a show that i personally really enjoy and will be recommending it. The show i'm talking about right now is Entourage which follows the life of fictional actor Vinnie Chase (played by Adrian Grenier) as he begins to climb the social ladder of Hollywood, with the help of his brother Johnny Chase (Kevin Dillon), and his two best friends Eric "E" (Kevin Connolly) and Turtle (Jerry Ferrara) as well as his agent Ari (played by Jeremy Piven.

The show is loosely based on the upcoming's of Mark Wahlber in Hollywood. While it's not a biography some of the key points or problems in the show were some that were faced by Marky Mark or by other people in the Hollywood Universe. The show while mainly targeted to males based on it's theme of male-friendship. The show can also be enjoyed by females however as there is a little drama to the show that keeps it going. The show features a wide variety of celebrity guest stars and shows how life can be for an actor in Hollywood.

Entourage has just finished up it's 7th season which is why i'm saying now would be a good time to start watching if you can get the dvds or watch it online somewhere. The 8th season will pick up in the summer and after the cliff hanger of the last season it should be a great one. Also the 8th season will be the last season for the show, which afterwards a movie will be made to end the show in true Hollywood fashion.

I encourage all to check out this show. If you have already seen it and would like to talk about it leave some comments, let me know how you feel about the show and if it is something that you would tell people to watch.

3D

I'm sure some of you if not most of you are well aware of the sudden boom that 3D has been taking. It seems like no matter where you turn anymore you see something that will be coming out in 3D, but when is enough, enough? I mean dont get me wrong i'm not totally against the idea of 3D, but not everything has to be transferred to 3D.

This Friday for example will be the release of the third Jackass movie which is cleverly titled Jackass 3D as it was shot in 3D. Now was this a movie that really needed to be shot in 3D, personally i believe that this is a perfect example of something that would benefit the consumer more if it was just shot in regular format. I dont really need to see Knoxville get trampled by bulls in 3D, nor do i want to pay up to 20 dollars to see it while wearing annoying glasses. It's expensive already to see movies but when you start putting them in 3D and charging up to double why even go?

Also we see now commercials for new 3D tv's. Personally i dont see anything on television now that is worth showing in 3D not only that but a 3D ready tv will run you about $2,500. Not only that but who wants to really sit in front of their tv while wearing glasses that is going to show you an image that may not even be that great. I mean 3D is a cool concept but it is no where near how companies are portraying it to be. The 3D isnt going to make you feel like you are right in the action, while some images are a little cooler in 3D (Chesire cat from Alice in wonderland) sometimes it makes it harder to focus on what else is happening in the film. I say this because if your looking directly at the center of the film that's the only thing that is going to come in clear while everything else may appear blurry because your eyes are not perfectly transfixed on what else is happening.

I can go on and on about this subject but i think i've made my personal opinion pretty clear that i'm not a huge fan of this new technology that is taking hold on the entertainment industry. The point i want to make clear however is that people need to realize not everything needs to be converted to this technology, eventually the market is going to become over saturated and people are going to stop caring. Do the 80's ring a bell to anyone, that was when the first 3D craze was started and well we all see how that lasted. There are also a lot of directors and actors who are totally against this. Maybe i'm just nitpicking here if you have an opinion please leave comments let me know how you feel.

I'm going to post my first article about a website and a web persona that is pretty funny and interesting. Some of you may or may not know about someone on the internet who calls themselves the angry video game nerd. This man is James Rolfe. This is a man who has become famous by playing old video games that some of us also grew up playing, however you may not remember them how they are shown.

When James does a video game review he picks some of the worst games imaginable from the system, sometimes they are games that you may remember being awesome but after watching some of the videos you can see that some of the games were clearly flawed in their own way. The reviews that James does are very funny and also interesting, it's interesting to see some of these games be played again and just see how terrible they are.

There is more to his website (which i will provide the link for) he also does some board games, movie reviews and he has some homemade movies. Something that is also pretty interesting that James does around Halloween time is monster madness, where everyday in October he does a horror movie review, these are also entertaining because they open your eyes to some lesser known horror genre movies that are out there and that are good. Some of the movies are not the greatest and you pick that up through his reviews. If your interested in viewing The Angry Video Game Nerd videos you can watch them at this website http://cinemassacre.com/ i hope you enjoy them.

Well thats all for me at Maky's corner i hope you enjoyed this article i will be coming back with many more and also i will be doing music, game and movie reviews if there is anything in  particular you would like for me to review please feel free to leave suggestions in the comment section, please remember to comment on my articles as i'm going to be trying to putin as much effort as i can and feedback is always good to hear.
